About the speaker: Originally from Wisconsin, Jim Schuette has a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management from U/M and a master’s degree in wildlife ecology from OSU. Since participating in his first burn in the suburbs of Minneapolis 43 years ago, Jim has planned over 200 burns on over 400,000 acres (equivalent to over 600 square miles, or 1/3 the land in Palm Beach County). Most of this acreage was in Martin & Palm Beach counties during the 34 years he managed public lands for FWC & SFWMD. Having worked for most federal environmental agencies, and a few outside the US, Jim is working towards the next phase of employment as a principal in Kingfisher Environmental LLC.
